2 outdoor cats

Hello,

i am having 2 outdoor cats in my garden which i feed them twice per day and provide them with water. Everytime i open the door to go out they pop out of nowhere and come near me but never close enough so as to touch them. I am feeding them for almost 5 months now and everytime it is the same. I have tried some times to come close to them so i can touch them but they never stay. I tried to go slowly, to stay near the food and a couple of more tricks but never work. After 5 months of feeding they are still afraid of me. Any suggestion as to how to work this problem out? I will appreciate it :)

Hi, it sounds like these cats have been feral for most of their lives. If so it will be very difficult if not impossible for them to feel safe enough to allow you come near. Cats normally learn from a very young age about what is safe and what is not and that is why it is so important to socialse kittens with other humans and animals. I would say that you are being a good friend to them by just helping lead a easier life by feeding them and looking out for them. They may after a very long time become used to you but if i were you i would not hold my bretah that they will let you near them.
Well done you for looking after them.
