8 year old cat who sleeps all day

My cat is 8 years old and about 15 pounds. All she does especially lately is sleep all day and night she has been withdrawn but doesn't turn down affection is she depressed or just getting older or what?

It very much depends if this is very different from her normal behavior. If she was always very active and has suddenly changed then i would say that it would be a good idea to get her checked by a vet as she may have some imbalance or illness that is making her less active.
If the change has happened over a much longer period of time it could just be that she is getting older and slowing down, although 8 isn't that old. If i were you i would have her checked over just so that you can rule out any medical condition first. If she is Ok then you could try to make her environement more stimulating by introducing different toys or things to climb etc. To make her more interested and want to explore more. It may simply be boredom which is bringing her down.
