8 yr. cat and her litter tray

My cat Trouble is 8 yrs.old ,goes in his litter box almost all the time, but at times poo-poo on the floor near the litter box ever since she was a kitten. She has 2 boxes & they are always cleaned once a day! I have tried everything I know to do, if anyone has an idea , please let me know?? rvanwhy@ptd.net

To be honest in this case there doesn't seem to be a clear reason for the behavior. The only thing I can say is that when she does do it I wonder if she has urinated earlier then needed to do a poo and won't do it because of the smell of the urine she did earlier. i know this can sound strange but my cat won't use her own litter tray if she has used it earlier in the day. i have to clean it everytime she uses it. Luckily she is an indoor outdoor cat so doen't use it that often.

You could try a different type of litter that may cover her scent better etc. or if the instances increase you may have to do a bit of litter tray training again see my page here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-litter-box.html
