My Happy Cats

My Alley cats - My four little sugar dumplings were rescued from a feral mother by my neighbor, who nursed them to good health and mothered them intensely.

She gave them to me to foster because she was unable to bring them inside the home she was living in.  We both take care of them now, along with my sister.  We call them community kittens.

They're very sweet and they're good at taking care of each other.  They never dominate each other and always run to the aid of the other when they think one is in trouble.

Usually, they've just knocked something over or are getting a bath.  They're never really in trouble.

Curie is the most sensitive and gentle and loves to nuzzle your neck and touch your face with her paws.

She is careful not to scratch, even when she's having a bath and is uncomfortable.  She's also the most adventurous and is the maverick of the litter.

Skittoes is more vocal and let's you know when she wants to be cradled and have her belly rubbed and she loves curling up under your arm.  She likes to play with the water in the sink and gets pretty wet in the process.  Needless to say, she does best when I bath her.  She likes to bite with affection and play, and her teeth are sharp.  "Ouch," says all of the kitties and me, when she's playing too rough.

Charlie almost didn't survive infancy, but is strong now and can see well, even though he's got scarring on both eyes and his lungs get congested easily.  He's very gentle, purrs a lot and likes to curl up on your lap and legs.  He hates being bathed and cries out in desperation.  Poor thing.  I only bath them when necessary - for fleas.  I'll be getting "Revolution" soon, so they won't be needing baths.

Snowshoes is the most timid, but she normally doesn't seem so.  You only see her fright when a dog is near or when she is taken outside to explore.  She's curious, but would rather stay inside.  The sounds of the big, wide world are too much for her.  She loves curling up on your chest.

All four greet everyone who enters the home with kindness and interest.  They're a lovely bunch of alley cats.
