A Cat PAge For Reg

I have had Reg & his sisters Katie & Connie for 11 years. i love them all to bits, but Reg is special. He loves me in that special way that boy cats love their "Mums".

He had been mistreated when he was a kitten and was being a big brave 12 week old boy at the rescue center when i went to find a cat (yes i went to get 1 & came away with 3!). He was protecting his sisters who were hiding behind him, and snarling and swiping his paws at me, but it was love at first sight for me.

As soon as he got home, he turned into a teddy bear, and over the years has become my "hairy husband"! He is demanding, loud, & funny. He jumps over the gate to meet me when i come home. He has to inspect my dinner plate to make sure i am not depriving him of some tasty morsel, and most nights about 4am, he climbs into bed with me & snuggles down into the crook of my arm for a cuddle. He head butts guests until they give him attention, and rolls around on his back outside the house, until someone passing by gives his deliciously fluffy tummy a rub. All of my cats are special, but Reg is "my boy".

Thinking of you
by: Fiona

Andrea i am so so sorry to hear about Reg my heart goes out to you. We are going through the same then, like you my heart is broken. Patch was my "special boy" just like Reg was yours. I am totally gutted like you will be too. Patch was sick last Fri and off his food and drink at the weekend,so i took him to the vet on Mon. I knew it wasnt his "wee ear" i thought maybe it was a tooth. What a shock i got when the vet said he had a large "mass" on his liver/kidney. They gave him some fluids and told me to take him home and enjoy him for a couple days. The vet said i would not have known Patch had that. All he did was sleep for two days on his wee bed on top of my bed and i lay beside him.I phoned the vet on Wed morning and said he was ready to go,i didnt want him to suffer. Some of my neighbours came to say their goodbyes,my brother came home from his work to spend a last few minutes with him and my son(38yrs old)who works night shift spent a lot of time at mine through the day. My son and i took Patch to the vet,he was put to sleep just before 12o/clock.Dont know who cried the most,i have never seen my son cry like that, but thats the effect our furry friends have on us !! Patch is having a private cremation and his ashes will be scattered in my back garden beside his wee friend Gabby(passed away 2yrs ago at 18 yrs old). I am so sorry for going on and on,i need to let it out and im sure you are a good listener.I wont be taking on another cat,i still have one who is over 17yrs old.2yrs ago i had 3 cats,Patch was a stray,Gabby was a neighbours cat(they never let her indoors)and Gizmo was also a neighbours cat(they never looked after her) I have been blessed with the three of them.Andrea i am truly sooooo sorry for your loss of gorgeous Reg,i know how you feel...... Thanks for listening......Fiona xxxx

Goodbye Darling Reg. x
by: Andrea, Ipswich

Not long after setting up his page, Reg started to loose weight really quickly. After lots of tests & x-rays, a large lump was found in his chest. Due to it's size, position & likely hood of being unable to remove it, i decided to let Reg have whatever time he had left without being in pain from a massive operation and wrapped in bandages.

Unfortunately, he deteriorated really quickly & i could see he was ready, so i called out the vet to send my darling boy on his way.

I had 5 precious days with him, to give him lots of hugs, and to say goodbye, but of course, it was not enough.

My beautiful Reg was so brave and uncomplaining during his illness, which was 99.99% sure to have been a cancer, and i miss him with all my heart.

Connie & Katie miss you loads, and still look in all your relaxing places for you. They miss their big brother looking out for them in the garden too!

Sleep tight my darling boy, I still see you sitting on your log at the bottom of the garden. I miss you with all my heart and know you will find me again some day. Love you. xxx

Cuddle for Reg
by: Andrea

Hi Fiona. Thanks for your lovely comments, 1 big cuddle passed on with pleasure!

Cats are funny aren't they. Reg is a bit of an attention seeker. He sits on a big cushion i have got in my front window, and waits for passers by to admire him. I often hear people cooing, and saying "aahhh, look at that lovely cat", etc..., & when he hears them, he starts to roll around, as if to say "look at me, aren't i fabulous!" He really is a big furry teddy bear. I am going to set up a hut for Reg in the next few days, so if you're interested to see more pics of him being daft or posing, then keep an eye out.

Has Patch got a Page? I couldn't see one. If not set one up, so i can see your furry friend.

What a handsome boy ! He is gorgeous and looks so cuddly. My cat Patch does the same as Reg,lays on his back to get his tummy rubbed when people are passing the house.I can see why he is so special. Give him a cuddle from me please.
