A Prayer for My Cats

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray to the Lord, my cats, he will keep.
I pray that you protect my feline fold
and that you take care of them all, young and old.

I pray that you keep them always in your care
Especially when I cannot be there.
I pray that you never allows us to part
For each one has a special place in my heart.

I know that you sent me into their life
For most of them was living a life of strife.
I also know that you sent them to me
to fill my life and to make me happy.

I look at each one and I think out loud
How much I do love them and of each one, I"m proud.
Each one is so special and different in ways
They fill me with happiness, my nights and my days.

They are not like people who sometimes let us down
They give my life meaning and dont allow me to frown.
When I am sad and lonely, they all somehow know.
They gather around me, with feline love to show.

I love them so dearly, these sweet cats of mine
Allow me to be with them a very long time.
But when all of my days have come to an end
Please allow them to know I was their best friend.

Until then, please keep them in your loving arm
And never allow anything to bring either of them harm.
Dear Lord I?m so grateful for this work that I do
To rescue these cats and take care of them for you.

So please protect my cats Lord, each and every one
Allow their days to be filled with much love and fun.
Please let them know daily that no matter where they roam
I will always be here for them and this is their forever home.

When the day finally comes that each one hears your call
Please meet them at the Rainbow Bridge with catnip toys and a ball.
Take them and love them as I have done here on earth
For I have loved each one as if I gave them birth.

So tonight Lord I pray, as I lay down to sleep
Your care will surround me and my cats you will keep.
And in the morning Lord, as I look into their eyes
May I see your smile in the morning sunrise.
