Our cat constantly is biting/licking herself. I watched her today and she would actually bite and pull on her fur. It's become obsessive with her. We've checked her fur for fleas and can't see anything. She's also obsessive about lightly biting my fingers and licking them first thing in the morning. I have to keep my hands hidden under the blankets or she will start biting (lightly) and licking them. She started doing all the above about 3-6 months ago. She's about 10 years old.
We did have another cat but had to have him put to sleep due to old age. that was about one year ago.

Best thing is to get her checked at the vets in case she has an allergy or skin problem. Something could be causing an irrritation which is encouraging her to bite and pull at her fur. If the vet thinks that she does not have anything physically wrong you could talk to him about whether the cat could be stressed and if he recommends any calming treatment.
