Anal Leakage from kitten

by Stormi

We have a 4 month old kitten that was given to us. She has been treated for ear mites and fleas and checked for worms. We have had her for a week. She is barely eating, barely drinking water, sleeping a lot and acting drained. But the most disturbing sign is the brownish fecal smelling substance draining from her anus. She has diarreha, and I am worried. We have a low income and are finding it hard to get her to a vet, as they are so expensive. I've tried cleaning her...maybe it is a problem of not cleaning herself, but I've been watching and that is not the case. It is a VERY slow continuous leak. I read about glands, but read that they smell like urine. What can I do?

Hi
she really does sound sick. Unfortunately kittens can go down hill very quickly if not treated early.

i really would not like to say what it could be, there are so many viruses etc she could have caught. Dehydration is the biggest worry as this can kill quickly.

If you are having financial troubles please see if there is a animal charity in your area that you can call for advice. they may know where you can see a vet cheaply;y.

in the mean time all i can do is give you a page from my website about cat diarrhoea for more information

I really hope you find some help soon

best wishes kate
