belly touching

my cat totally freaks out if you touch his belly. he gets really mean and attacks you, as if it hurts him. Should I take him to the vet?

Hi
A cats belly is a very vulnerable area for them and they don't usually like anyone touching it. Often when you have had a cat for some time you may notice them rolling over onto their back in front of you showing their belly this is a sign of trust and being submissive.

It may just be at this time your cat is not ready to show you this trust yet. But this is not unusual.

Of course I always recommend that if you do suspect that your cat may be in pain then a trip to the vet is no bad idea, at least it will give you peace of mind.

best wishes Kate
