Cat biting at the air

I have a 10 year old, female cat. She recently, when grooming herself, bites rapidly at her backside area and even at the air. She is eating and drinking normal normal bowel movements and urinating is normal. She is an indoor cat. She is playful and acts normal in every other way. Really concerned ....

Hi
This area is a prime spot for parasites such as fleas to gather and when you see a cat frantically biting this area you can be sure of some irritation there.

Check for fleas

The other option is that it could be a skin allergy of some sort

Your best option though is to take your cat to see a vet so that the problem can be correctly diagnosed and the right treatment can be started. your cat must be in some distress with this issue. i know when my old cat had a similar problem it was such a relief to see her happy again once the allergy had been treated.

best wishes Kate
