Cat can't meow and has excessive salivation

My cat is 6 years old and lost her voice 4 days ago. She has been hiding and seems to be in pain, and has excessive salivation with a very bloated stomach. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow since she is showing no signs of improvement. She likes to kill birds and lizards, and recently got into a fight with a stray cat (a day before the symptoms started). I checked her for bites and scratches which she doesn't seem to have but I'm not sure if she contracted salmonella or something else. I hope it's nothing but don't we always?

Hi
i think you are doing the right thing in taking your cat to the vets. It could be that she has eaten something bad. she may have something caught in her mouth or throat. She may have ulcers caused by a virus. there are many possibilities with these symptoms.

I'm sure that the vet will be able to pin point the cause and sort her out. I know exactly what its like with our cats, worry is too small a word.

Hope all works out well.

best wishes kate
