cat constantly biting and scratching

I have a 3 1/2 year old female siamese cat. She is an indoor cat and only goes outside when i take her to the vets. She is very healthy - my question is that lately she's been biting her back and i notice mostly when i see hair missing or out of place - why is that she bites herself?? We scratch her regularly - could it be her skin is dry?? No ticks or fleas... If its dry skin what can we do to help her

Hi
This sort of behavior can be associated with several things from dry skin. to cat allergies to anxiety.

Your first step is to have a vet take a look at her skin perhaps under a microscope to see if there are any signs of a parasite etc.

Because there are several possible causes for this it is impossible to try and treat without a proper diagnosis after examination.

best wishes Kate
