Hi
flaky skin can be caused by a few things from parasites to poor nutrition or just simply a loss of general condition as they grow older.

There are some shampoos you can try to bring the coat back into condition as well supplements. Please see this page for more information on various skin problems which could cause flaky skin.

However it may be an idea to have your cat checked over by a vet especially as she may be run down and this has also caused her loss of voice.

Whenever a cat shows a change in behavior or signs of illness if it continues for more than a few days it is always best to take them to see a vet sooner rather than later. As cats get older they do need a little more care and it is important that eat the right food for their age group to ensure they remain healthy. i also have a page about cat foods here

I hope your cat is feeling better soon

best wishes Kate
