Cat does not or will not make it to cat box

Hi,

My Moms cat that she adopted 8 years ago always used the cat box and in the last month he will not even try to get to the cat box just cries and just lets go besides getting rid of him what can we do he was at the vet but they say nothing is wrong with him ????

he could be scent marking the home. it is called middening and is caused when something has happened which has upset the cat to the point that he feels the need to scent mark his territory again. i have written a page about this which also give some advice on how to try and solve the problem here is the page
