Cat fur issue

by Kristie Baston

I have an indoor cat he is 6 years old and every winter he gets a small patch of fur near his hind leg, bum area that clumps. It almost seems like it is growing that way. This year it got a little worse. What could be causing this?

This area of fur is often prone to matting especailly if the fur is much longer there. The only way to stop this happening is to regulalry brush the cats fur to get rid of loose hair and grit that can get caught in the fur. If the cat has long fur you should really groom your cat at least twice a week other wise you will end up having to take the cat to a groomers to get rid of the clumps.
