cat gone missing

My year old cat has been out for over 12 hours, he usually comes when he is called. Should I be concerned?

By the time you receive this reply I would not be surprised if he has already returned home.

if not then I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, it is common for cats when they go exploring, especially male cats to go exploring for some time even days.

If he still has not returned after a few days then I would begin to make enquiries around the neighbourhood. Also make sure you leave some food outside for him and something of his that smells of him, like a blanket etc.
