Cat growls when washing

by lesley

Why does my cat growl when licking his hind area. His butt/private area. Like he is chasing something in his butt. He is indoor outdoor. Likes to eat grass and chase bugs. I'm worried about worms, ie I have another cat. She seems ok.

Hi
Well she certainly shouldn't be growling while washing this area. It does suggest that she is may be in some discomfort in that area.

The rear end is a common area for parasites to gather and so although worms is a possibility so is some other parasite or even skin condition.

The trouble is it can be difficult to know what it is to the untrained eye so really the best solution is to have a vet take a look. they can then do a thorough examination to identify any problems.

I have some pages here about cat worms, cat fleas and skin allergies which you may find of further interest.
