cat has a cut

hello, just noticed my cat has a round red cut (what looks like a red scab) on her head, its obviously been bleeding as i can see red in her white fur, but it isnt bleeding now, whatever blood there was appears to have dried up, she looks a bit sad but doesnt seem in any pain and is moving about ok - maybe a little more after attention than normal, not sure if she has been fighting with another cat or whether she has banged or something as its happened recently as never noticed it earlier today - what do you advise please ? thanks

Hi
well it does sound like a bite mark or scratch as I have seen similar marks on cats in my area after fights.

Bath it with some warm water and try and keep it clean but apart from that there is not much else you can do. it should heal by itself.

if you notice the mark getting bigger or worse then an infection may have set in in which case you will need to take your cat to see a vet, also if your cats behavior changes dramatically ie off her food etc then A trip to the vets would be a good idea too.

There is only one other possibility and that is ring worm but as this is just one mark i think it more likely that it is a wound.

best wishes Kate
