Cat has lost voice

by Harriett

My cat seems to have lost his voice. I had him treated yesterday for tapeworms and got his rabies shot. Then this morning he has no voice. He opens his mouth like he's meowing, but nothing. Do you think he'll get his voice back? Could it have been because of the medical treatment?

Hi yes sometimes this happens, the cat has a small reaction to a vaccine which gives them similar symptoms to having a virus, a bit like a cold or a sore throat in this case.

i wouldn't worry at this point, give it a few days and I'm sure his meow will come back.

if you notice any other symptoms, then contact your vet for advice.

best wishes Kate
