Cat Has obsession with rubber things

My seven year old spayed female cat has started doing strange things at night with rubber gloves and more recently with large thick rubber bands.

Whatever she's doing is accompanied with a bizarre moaning-type meow that we've never heard her do in any other situation.
No matter where we seem to hide the gloves, she finds them and carries them around to various locations in the house.

Any theories? Is it the texture she likes? Is she doing something 'pervy'? Is she mothering them?

well it may not necessarily be rubber it may just be these particular items she has become fascinated with. I had a cat who loved to find and hide watches.

However I am sure it is nothing pervy, just simply a mothering instinct. why she chooses these items i don't think anyone would know.

I wouldn't worry too much about this, it be just passing phase. You could try buying her something new like a soft toy mouse. My two love theres and walk around with them in their mouths all the time.
