cat humps after being neutered

I have a year old male cat who was neutererd. Lately when he carries his favorite toy mouse around he will either come by you or on your slippers or even pillows and start kneeding but then he will place his butt down and it looks like he is humping the object. What would cause this and how would I be able to rectify it.

Answer by Kate
well this is unusual. The quick answer is that he shouldn't be humping as he wont have the hormones which would trigger the behavior.
It may be learned behavior similar to the neading ie it makes him feel good like, memories of his kittenhood and his mother. So this behavior may just feel good and so he does it.

How to stop it is trickier. Apart from removing the item as soon as he starts the behavior. When you take it away, do it quickly and quietly every time. Also try to distract him with toys to take his mind off the behavior.

best wishes kate

NEUTERED KITTEN HUMPIMG
by: DI

HI, MY 8MTH OLD NEUTERED TOM IS HUMPING MY 2YR OLD TOM CAT, HE EVEN PINS HIM DOWN BY THE NECK. MY 2YR OLD EVEN CRIES. IVE TOLD HIM NO PRISON RULES LOL (TELLS HIM OFF) AND NO VETS INCLUDING THE RSPCA KNOWS WHY HE DOES THIS. MY 2YR OLD NOW CRIES WHEN THE KITTEN GOES NEAR HIM, NOT THAT I BLAME HIM.I HAVE 4 OLDER MALES AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVER DONE THIS NOR DOES THE KITTEN ATTEMPT TO MOUNT THEM.

Humping!

I have a male that is nuetered and a female that is spayed. for some unknown reason he'll mount her like he's ready to go. You can see that his back end is tense and you'd think that he's really aking care on business. In the mean time she's TOTALLY pissed! In the end she sets him straight but I find it funny that he thinks he can still "perform" (for lack of a better term!)
