Cat latching onto screen.

When my sister's cat's are outside and they want in they will jump up and latch onto her window screens. She's had to replace them once already and the current one is on it's way there. What can she do to keep them from doing this?

very difficult to answer this one as it is now a learned behavior for your cats. Ie they know that when they scratch like this they are let in.

the trouble is to un teach them this would mean not letting them in when they do this and this is likely to cause severe shredding of the screen during the learning process.

Other than spraying the screens with a strong smelling citrus spray which can sometimes deter cats from areas

If the screens have ledges, you may be able to put things on them to try and prevent the cats from getting close. ie shells, stones or pebbles.

best wishes kate
