Cat laying by water bowl

My cat Sancha is 13 yrs old. she was diagniosed with liver failer in January. The Doctor said she wouldnt make it passed February. it is September she is still here eating and drinking. This morning, I found her laying by her water bowl. There she has stayed all day. I know she is sick and i know she is dying but is she suffering at this point. She still eats and walks around. What does this mean/

Lying by the water bowl may simple mean that she has decided that she likes this place best and if she is feeling particularly thirsty all the time may just like to be close to water.

Only you can decide if your cat is suffering at this point. If she is still eating and drinking and going to the loo ok and does not cry out in pain when you pick her up or stroke her and is she still seeks your company and wants to move around during the day a little and has not problem doing this then I would say she is not suffering. However as the owner you will notice changes in behavior etc that no one else would and so you have to be the judge as to whether or not you need to take her to the vets again.

Sadly because of her condition it may be that this new behavior is the first sign that she is going downhill. All you can do is to keep a close eye on her for any other possibly signs of distress.

best wishes Kate
