Cat loosing his hair becoming bald.

My cat is loosing his hair. He keeps cleaning himself non-stop. The bald spots there looks like there are some small scabs. He still is eating and drinking normal. He use to be a long haired cat not anymore. Please help me.. Should I be worried?

Bald spots on cats are caused either by stress causing the cat to over groom or by a parasite or skin allergy causing the cat irritation.

the first thing to do is to see if there are any signs of mites or fleas in the fur. If you cannot see anything, the next thing to do is to take them to the vets to have their skin looked at. Sometimes the these mites can be very small in deed and the vet will be able to use special equipment to see them.

If the vet cannot find anything physically wrong then you will have to consider that your cat may be feeling anxious about something and you will have to try and discover what this may be and change it.
