cat loosing its fur

My friends cat has a bare pink tummy, no fur at all on it, and seems to be losing fur on his legs. Also he seems lethargic and a bit thin. The skin on his tummy sags heaps as well. What's wrong with him? Should she take him to vet? She's quite worried about him.

Absolutely. this sounds like extreme fur loss and there is definitely something wrong. He may have a parasite on his skin or be allergic to something. either way the vet will probably look through a microscope as some skin cells to see if he can see any parasites etc.

poor cat he does sound rather ill. I do hope he can be made better soon
