cat loosing weight, always hungry, pooping everywhere, now stumbling

hello,

My cat Toby is 12 years old, over the past couple of weeks he has lost a substantial amount of weight, always hungry, will not use litter box and I just watched him stumble when trying to jump up on the couch. He does not look like or acts like he is in any pain and is still very social. Any idea what this could be?

Hi
Karen
Until your cat has some blood work done by the vet it won't be possible to determine the actual cause. However there are several illness that i can think of that can cause this sudden loss in weight. They are Thyroid problem ( cat-thyroid ), heart conditions and diabetes.

It is likely that your cat is pooping everywhere due to distress cause because he is not feeling well.

The sooner you can get him to see the vet the better. He may have lost so much weight that he is now losing muscle as well and this is why he is stumbling.

Hope the vet can help him soon

Kate
