Cat losing hair

What are the causes of a cat losing hair? Particularly behind the back legs.

Answer from Kate site owner

Often when a cat loses hair from the back of the legs it is normally caused by the cat over grooming themselves and pulling the fur out. This could be due to some form of stress that the cat is feeling or if their is an allergic reaction which is causing the area to be very uncomfortable for your cat.
Check to see if the skin is red or irritated and watch your cat when they are grooming.
See my page https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-hair-loss.html for more information on cat hair loss and i would advise that a trip to the vets may be necessary just to make sure that there is nothing physically wrong.
