I adopted my daughters cat 2 weeks ago, and all of a sudden she started to pee in my husbands bed and today she went in her bed. She poos in the litter box. Why all of a sudden is she doing this?

She is 4 years old, persian, and is spayed

hi well this is a complicated issue which can be caused by many different things. However in this case as she is a new pet i would assume that it is more likely to do with territory marking and also making herself feel more at home (the smell of their own urine is comforting to them, sort of, if it smells like them, then everything must be ok)

beds are a very common place for this to happen as it smells most strongly of you and they want to add their scent to yours.

i have a web page which explains the issue further, it also has a method at the end of the page which is useful to try and settle the cat down by litter training in a confined space.

here is the page

best wishes Kate
