I have a male cat I have had since 4 weeks old. He is the cutest cat ever and has such a great personality. However, he will not stop peeing in my house. I have 2 cats, 2 litter boxes, CLEANED DAILY been using a litter I know he likes I have replaced the boxes with new boxes after so long but the same exact box. He will pee behind the couch under the bed etc. He is fixed and has been neutered since he has been 3 months old. My house is clean he is loved, he poops in his box just wont pee. UIts very frustrating cause we bought a new house and he permiated the house after 3 years and now he is starting it again. He definately isnt stressted he is happy in his home and shows it. I have tried herbal rememdies like lavendar and this peace and calm to help the cat stop doing it , I have tried feliway ... I have tried changing litter and removing the lid. NOTHING helps. I feel like I almost have to get rid of him which is against my standards of owning an animal. He is six years old and I have been dealing with it for a while. I have taken him to the vet he does not have a urinay tract infection either... Please help.. is their meds something to make him stop?

Hi
Unfortunately there is no medications that can stop this as it is behavioral and not medical considering that your vet has ruled out a urinary infection.

there is always a reason for a cat to do this i.e they use their urine a sa both a scent marker to tell other cats that this is their territory and also as a comforter to themselves i.e this place smells like me so I feel secure.

Just why your cat feels the need to do this is often very difficult to find out. it may have something to do with the other cat (i assume the other cat is also neutered).

The only thing you can try and do is to help build your cats confidence and this is done by confining them to a room for a period of time with their litter tray, allowing them to feel confident in a smaller area without the threat of the other cat. This process is described on my web page here
http://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-litter-box.html

Also it is viattly importnt that no traces of his urine remains. Even the smallest spot will encourage him to return to that area. A black light is good for seeking any spots left. I also have a page about urine removal which you might find of interest here
http://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-urine-cleaner.html

Please believe me when I say I know how distressing and frustrating this behavior can be, but your cat is really not being naughty, there must be a reason causing him to do this.

I hope the problem resolves itself soon

best wishes Kate
