cat scared of socks???

I have two cats, they are brothers, they have always been normal, loving, healthy cats. Lately one of them is freaked out by almost everything. Socks on the floor, slippers, anything pretty much thats on the floor and soft. He will walk throughout the house slowly turning each corner with caution, even though there is nothing there. If any of these things come close to him, he feaks out, runs as fast as he can, doesnt matter whats in his way. ill give him lovings, and then hes okay, but as soon as he see somthing that he doesnt like, it starts again. They go outside almost everydaty, i was just wondering if something out there tried to attack him? Its just been in the last 3-4 days. He has also recently recovered from an ear hematoma, could the hematoma have damaged something when healing? Thanks for your help!

ummm I think you may have hit the nail on the head with your idea about something outside which has freaked him out and has made him very weary of everything.
I really don't think that the ear problem is an issue apart from upsetting his world for a while which may have also contributed to his issue.

I wouldn't worry at this stage, give him some time and he will slowly regain his confidence. I have a web page about scared cats which you may find of interest here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/scared-cat.html

best wishes Kate
