Cat seems constipated

Our cat often drops hard turds on the carpet. He does his business outside, and doesn't use a catbox. But recently, we have noticed a worm here and there around his butt area. He came in the other night, with a turd hanging and he was trying to lick it off. Usually we just find dry, hard turds on the carpet. Could the worms have anything to do with this? He doesn't appear to have worms right now though. Thank you.

Answer by KAte
yes if your cat does have worms then they can make it difficult for the cat to pass stools and become constipated.

I assume you have treated your cat for worms so that they cannot cause further problems.

I have two pages on my site which you may find of further interest and help. one is about cat worms and the other is about general cat constipation. i hope they can help further.
