cookie my cat likes to carry things

My cat is 6 years old and she want's to carry around this rag in her mouth but she seem's distressed when she is holding it in her mouth as if she's looking to put it some where. I took it away from her and she seemed ok but a year later she is doing it again with my sock. Please advice!

i wouldn't worry, some cats have this behavior, i don't know if they are carrying prey or kittens in their mind but it is totally harmless.

I had a male cat that would walk around with my watch in his mouth, then a pair of ear muffs, then an old sock. we would find little piles of our stuff. And then he just stopped doing it.

Cats have imaginations just like us, you can see that when they are chasing their toys and darting around, something is going on in their minds. So i see no reason why the sort of behavior you describe is not just another imagination game.
