Fixed female cat with swollen teat

Hello,

My fixed female cat is 7 years old. She's about 6 lbs. She had 2 kittens 5 years ago, but I just noticed that one of her teats is swollen and hairless. There is no discharge and it isn't red. What do you think it could be?

Answer by Kate
i am not a vet and so cannot give you a diagnosis, but it could be a condition called mastitis where the lining of the teat becomes infected. or it may simply be that she has nibbled it and caused it to go red. In either case i would recommend taking her to the vets to get it looked at in case there is an infection.

best wishes Kate
