Furballs every three days?

by Veronika

I have long hair 1 yr old cat. Last week she started being sick every 3rd day. It's bit of sick and then fur ball. She has never been sick as often as she is lately. Any suggestions?

Hi
Fur balls are quite common especially in cats with long fur. It is particularly important for owners of cats with long fur to regularly groom their cats two or three times a week to prevent the cat ingesting lots of loose fur.

In most cases the cat can bring up the fur balls on their own but it can take a few days to shift it and in the mean time the cat may not feel very comfortable.

There are some preparations you can give your cat to try and lubricate the throat so that the fur ball can be passed more easily, but in general prevention is better than cure.
