Guest cat poops everywhere.

I take care of my friends male cat at my house while they are on vacation. He poops everywhere but the litter box. How do I get him to go in the litter box? The cat is very attached to the dad in his family.

Unfortunately some cats are more nervous than others and this sort of behavior known as middening is normal in such cases.

the cat is basically feeling very insecure and upset by the change and is trying to make himself feel better by scent marking this new territory.

usually it should calm down after awhile as they relax in the new environment. but if not the only thing you can do is to give him some time out to relax by giving him less to worry about. this is done by confining the cat to a smaller environment for a few days.

This gives the cat time to calm down and also to get usedbto the litter tray again.
