I would check to see if the cat has a sore. It could be that this is protection for itself. Just like the mother cat will try and protect it's babies.

Could be a number of reasons.....mine used to go crazy if there was a animal outside the window.(any kind) and if I was near direct that aggression toward me (who he loves) Now I ignore him if a unexpected visitor comes to window and we are fine. Also could be medical....best to check out.
