hissing kitten
by: jen

I just brought in 4 wild kittens a little over a month old from outside under my trailer. The mother cat got hit in the road a few days later. I have two kittens who hiss and spit. It's their way of trying to scare you into not picking them up. I don't let it back me away from them, I pick them up anyway. I do hold them as much as I can. But I only grab them as they are coming out of their hiding place which is under the chair or couch. As soon as they are in my arms, they calm down and sit there for a while then I put them down to go eat.

I just raised a litter of 7 kittens. It was a stage all the kittens went thru..........hissing at me but I would pick them up anyway and pet them Now a couple of weeks later, no on ehisses and they all love to be picked up. How old are the kittens? I would say pick them up for short periods and give them lots of loving and they will soon return it.
