how do i no my cat has mated

my cat is in heat. shes been out rather alot over the past few days. she is normaly a very affecionate, loving cat. she came in this afternoon and was rubbing all around me but when i went to stroke near the back of her legs she went to strike me and hissed at me. so im just wondering if she has mated or not.

Hi, well unfortunately there is no way to really tell i'm afraid. There may be signs of redness but apart from that there are no signs.

When a cat does become pregnant they will show no signs until quite late into the pregnancy.
