how to litter box train a kitty

have a new kitty, she uses the litter box less than half of the time. what do i need to do to train her?

you did not mention how old she is. if she is still very young then it may take a little time before she fully understand that she needs to use the box all the time.

the best way to train her is to take her to the litter box put her in it and scrape with her paws in the litter after every meal as this is the time when she will most likely want to go. this will turn into a routine which she will learn and gradually understand.

make sure the sides of the litter tray are not too high for her so that she can easy get in and also make sure the litter you are using is not too harsh on her paws. there are many different types of litter see here for more on this.
