Introducing two stray cats

I have 2 rescue cats, 1 male 1female both around 3 yrs old... had them 4 days, both very loving to me and affectionate but she keeps growling and hissing at him and last night chased him away.

I now have got an extra litter tray so they have own space and this doesn't happen all the time
But can you offer any advice as really would love to keep them both

My advice would be to keep them apart for a few days and then to re introduce them slowly using the confinement method. It does take a little time and effort but is worth it in the end as it allows the cats to build their confidence in each other without fear of attack.
