Is it because my cat is old?

by Karen

I have been noticing odd behaviors in my cat in the last 6 months, such as sitting in an opened closet meowing at the wall. Going places she has not and should not be...ie sitting on the stove, jumping into bureau's. Her meows are half meows.

Two weeks ago we started finding "turds" around the house, today she urinated on a pile of clothes.

Any idea what could be causing this behavior?

I cannot have her going to the bathroom all over the house and cannot afford hundreds of dollars in vet bills.

Hi well yes if she is a very old cat it may be age related. Please see this page for more on this

However there may be a underlying cause for this behavior. If I were you I would take her to the vets for a checkup. this should not cost hundreds of dollars but will at the very least let you know if she does actually have any possible health issues.

If she gets the all clear then it is behavioral and you need to find out if something has changed round the home which may have triggered this behavior. Please see this page for more on this behavior.
