Hi, I have Himalayan cat, Daisy, who will be 14 soon. She had kidney problem at 8, but has been fine since. Last 4 months she seems to have gone downhill, especialy with walking. Her back leges are kind of hunched, tail is usually down, used to always be straight up. Vet tried arthritis med, she was in a daze all the time. she had blood test, came back negative, so organs are ok, vet put her on prednisone, also always has been extremely constipated. Vet said to add mineral oil to dry food, she wont eat pumpkin. today she had diarrhea, and has been passing oily dicharge all day, maybe had too much oil. She has great appetite and drinks well, very affectionate, stil gets up and down on places but a bit wobbly,i have had her at vet 3 times this month already. Is this old age?

Hi
well if you have had tests done and the vet cannot find a specific health problem then yes i would perhaps put it down to old age. Although 14 is no very very old as she has had health problems in the past it may have put a strain on her body which has meant that she is aging quickly.

i am so sorry to hear of your cats ill health, i only hope that the vet can make her as comfortable as possible during her old age.

best wishes kate
