kitten blind?

my newborn kitten has an overcoat on one eye. it almost looks like cataracts but im fairly sure she can see out of it. also you can see the green under this blue overcoating. does anyone know what this is?

Hi sounds like it is the third eyelid which all cats have. It should automatically roll back when the eye is open.

When it does not it can be a sign of ill health or a problem with the eye. if I were you I would definitely take them to the vets to have them checked out. especially as he is a kitten and they can be more prone to illness.

I have a web page about cat eye problems which you may find of further interest

Hi, if this is as you put it a "newborn" kitten, are you actually aware that kittens (and puppies) are actually born with their eyes and ears closed!-until around 2wks (10-16days) when they will start to open! Not been rude by saying this. So please don't take offence if you are already aware of this (some people dont know this!) So just thought I'd comment here, just to be sure! (Would hate to not comment and u were unaware of this and trying to force their eyes open!!) Not saying that you are/have!-but just sounds a little worrying the way you worded it that's all. All the best. :-)
