kitten pooping all over the place.

Ok so here is my problem. I foster kitten and have never had this problem before. I got a litter of 4 4ish week old kittens to foster and we have 1 kitten of our own. Well when I go them they were not at all litter trained, still only on kitten milk, dirty and cover in their own fecal matter. I bath them, litter trained them and started them on wet food. They were all litter trained, happy, and healthy but all of a sudden the runt of the litter started pooping on my floor (about 3 days ago). If I am watching her them she will use the litter box but if I am not the she find a hidden place and uses my floor. What can I do to fix this problem? I have children and can not have her pooping all over my floor. Nothing has changed from the time I got them to now. Their litter box is cleaned 2x a day. I need help or I am afraid I will have to take her and have her put to sleep because no one is going to want to give her a new home. Thank you, Bobbi

Hi Bobbi
This is not a unusual problem and can be sorted out, it certainly is not a reason to put a cat to sleep.
Usually when this happens it is caused be something that has upset the cat and made them feel uncertain of their home and their place in it. The poop is their way of strongly scenting the home environment.
Please read my page about Middening under the cat urination pages for some more advice.
You will probably have to retrain this cat with their litter tray again. This can be done in isolation for best results. See litter training under the cat training pages.

best wishes
