litter problem

HI, My name is angela and i have a cat who is 8 years old in cat years, but in reality he is 56 in human years. just reasontly he has started pooping on the bathroom rug even though his litter is perfectly clean. and im getting tired of it. what can i do to stop it? my husband is ready to through him out side, my cat means every thing to me i raised his from 24 hours old. please help me.

Hi do not despair this is a common issue which i am asked about frequently.

There are many possible causes and once you have an idea what the cause is you can start to try and stopped the behavior.
