Lucy

As I bent down on my knees,
Came this kitten full of fleas…

I scooped her up and took her home…
And got those fleas with my comb…

She loved her water, to drink or play…
She loved her water, any old way…

She wasn’t a lap cat, no petting allowed…
But she was my baby and made me proud.

With white whiskers and a tortie face,
She always let us know her place…

Whether bed or chair she claimed to own,
Lucy the cat always slept alone…

But as she aged she grew to love…
Kisses and pets from those above…

For fourteen years she shared my house…
But never once did she catch a mouse.
