Max our cat peeing in the house

by Leslee Greene

Our cat is 3 years old, and started out as a indoor cat and used the litter box, but we have a doggie door which the cat started using and staying outside. The cat would come in only to eat and sleep. He would not use the litter box indoors any more, so I took it up. After about a year we noticed he would pee maybe once every other month in the house somewhere, but it is starting to become more often what should we do, bring a litter box back in the house? Again, he goes in and out the doggie when ever he wants, this has not changed

Thank you
Leslee

Hi
I doubt that the behavior has anything to do with there not being a litter tray. it is more likely to be associated with scenting the house.

You have not mentioned if he is neutered or not, if not then this would definitely make this situation worse. Although even neutered cats may feel the need to scent mark their home from time to time.

i have a web page about this issue and some of the possible causes which you may find of further help.
