Milo

We have 10 cats - seven were/are feral and one is deaf (an abandoned pet). When we brought him (Milo) into our home (#6 of our adoptions), he was quite sick and emaciated. He had a cracked tooth, general infection (which was missed by the vet even though he had Horner's Syndrome), flea-infested, etc. We had him neutered, tested for diseases, given his shots and had to have a tooth pulled. It took 1 1/2 years (and a number of visits to the vet - a second one since we lost faith with the first!) to get him back to good health. We were afraid Milo's deafness would make him more aggressive with our other cats but they have all adjusted to each other. He DOES have a problem with an autoimmune reaction which occasionally flares up, probably due to the infection missed by the original vet, but a couple of steroid injections and he's fine, sometimes for a year. He is a perfect example of a cat enjoying life even being deaf. He loves to be loved, and he and one of the ferals are always playing together.
