My 16 year old cat just urinated on the floor in front of me is she sick?

We have a fastidious 16 year old cat that just urniated on the floor in front of me. Does this mean that she is sick. We have also observed her peeing randomly all over the yard? Is this a sign of something?

We live in northeastern PA Winter is coming. My husband is going to throw her outside unless I can identify a problem and fix it?

it may well be that she may have a urine infection.
