My cat cries when I pat her and pick her up whats the matter?

OK I inherited these two cats 2 months ago when the neighbor left and didn't take them. I took them in cause she just left them on the street they were fine this morning and now the black one cries every time I pat her or pick her up...she even hissed at me. This one has became my cat she sleeps with me every night or always in my lap. Im not sure whats the matter with her I have 3 little one so she could of gotten out. I noticed it tonight when she was not in my bed I went to get her and she won't even let me pick her up? She cries in allot of pain what could b wrong with her? I need to find out how to help her how do I tell if its her back, or her belly or her hips....she just cries when I pat her

Your cat definitely sounds like she is in pian, cats will hiss and cry out if they are in pain when you try to pick them up.

My advice is not to worry about where the injury is, but to take her to the vets as soon as possible. She may have fallen badly and hurt herself. the quicker she is seen by the vet the better. At the very least he will be able to give her some pain relief.
